Prior to making the oil change I referred to the Owners Manual for the correct amount that would be required for the change. The manual stated the L3800 HST would required 7.5 qts. with a new filter also installed.A The specifications are taken with KUBOTA BX24 tractor. I barely used the tractor this year and can most likely get through the winter with using it just 50 hours for snow removal. Last time I changed the hydro fluid was 3 years ago. Right under the filter seal is the front axle. I throw a 2-foot piece of tin foil over the axle and shape it into a channel to direct the oil into my drip pan. After the oil drips out I pop the new filter on and carefully unwrap the tin foil.
